Artemisinin 62.5 mg + Piperaquine Phosphate 375 mg

COMPOSITION: Each capsule contains:

  • Artemisinin — 62.5 mg
  • Piperaquine Phosphate — 375 mg
  • Excipients q.s.

PHARMACOLOGY

Artemisinin is a fast-acting antimalarial that rapidly reduces Plasmodium parasite biomass by generating free radicals within the parasite, leading to protein and membrane damage.
Piperaquine phosphate is a long-acting bisquinoline antimalarial that inhibits heme detoxification in the parasite’s food vacuole, resulting in toxic heme accumulation and parasite death.
The combination provides rapid parasite clearance (artemisinin) with sustained post-treatment prophylaxis (piperaquine), reducing recrudescence and resistance development.
