Visita® Vag

Visita® Vag is an oval-shaped, ivory opaque, soft gelatin vaginal suppository containing an off-white to white oily suspension. They are formulated for intravaginal use to provide effective local treatment of mixed vaginal infections caused by susceptible bacterial and fungal organisms.

COMPOSITION: Each capsule contains:

  • Clindamycin Phosphate
  • Equivalent to Clindamycin BP (Base) 100 mg
  • Clotrimazole BP – 100 mg
  • Excipients 			q.s.

PHARMACOLOGY

● Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, making it effective against anaerobic bacteria commonly implicated in bacterial vaginosis.
● Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity, particularly effective against Candida species.
The combination provides dual antibacterial and antifungal activity, addressing mixed vaginal infections in a single formulation.

INDICATIONS

Visita® Vag Suppository is indicated for the treatment of: ● Mixed vaginal infections involving bacterial vaginosis and candidiasis ● Vaginal discharge associated with susceptible bacterial and fungal pathogens ● Vulvovaginal itching, irritation, and discomfort due to mixed infections

Dosage and Administration

● For intravaginal use only. ● Insert one vaginal suppository once daily, preferably at bedtime, or as directed by a healthcare professional. ● Complete the full course of therapy even if symptoms improve earlier.

Method of Use

- Wash hands thoroughly before use.
- Remove the suppository from the blister pack.
- Gently insert deep into the vagina, preferably while lying on your back.
- Wash hands after insertion.

Contraindications

● Hypersensitivity to clindamycin, clotrimazole, or any component of the formulation
● History of antibiotic-associated colitis, unless advised by a healthcare professional

Precautions and Warnings

● Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment for optimal therapeutic outcome.
● Do not use it during menstruation unless advised by a healthcare professional.
● Prolonged or repeated use may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms.
● If symptoms persist or worsen, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding should be under medical supervision, particularly during the first trimester.

Possible Side Effects

● Mild vaginal irritation or burning sensation
● Vaginal itching or discomfort
● Rarely, allergic reactions
If severe irritation or hypersensitivity occurs, discontinue use and seek medical advice.
